Chase Anderson is a partner in the Madison County, Illinois office. He is part of the firm's Products Liability and Toxic Tort & Environmental Litigation practice groups and spends much of his time defending asbestos claims brought by plaintiffs in Madison County, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri.
Chase has extensive experience litigating asbestos/products liability claims in these jurisdiction including preparing responses to written discovery, deposing parties, experts, other witnesses, and advising clients on strategies to achieve early and expedient dismissal. Chase regularly and aggressively pursues a wide range of defenses to achieve his client's goals in asbestos/products liability matters including moving to dismiss cases early based on lack of personal jurisdiction/forum non conveniens, applying foreign law, and seeking summary judgment. Chase has successfully argued dispositive motions in both Illinois and Missouri cases and has also won motions applying foreign law and opposing consolidation of cases by plaintiffs.
Besides product liability matters, Chase also handles claims brought by plaintiffs alleging injury caused by defects on a defendant's property. In fact, last year, Chase assisted in the defense of a wrongful death action brought by Missouri Plaintiffs against a large multinational corporation. Plaintiffs alleged the corporation was negligent for failing to warn invitees of asbestos insulation on its industrial property. The St. Louis City jury found no liability on the part of the corporation. See Linda Nichols, et al v. The Dow Chemical Company, et al. 1222-CC-01820 (3 week jury trial).
Chase is licensed to practice in the State Courts of Illinois and Missouri and the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Illinois and Eastern District of Missouri.
