Samantha Picans is an associate in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois and a memeber of the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice. Her past practices have included patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation in various federal district courts, as well as related contract and other claims. These cases involved fields such as computer hardware and software, brewing, industrial manufacturing processes and machines, metallurgy, and consumer products.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Ms. Picans worked in the IP litigation group of a national firm. Before that, she was an associate in a Colorado-based law firm where she gained experience in a wide range of practice areas.

Ms. Picans has recently served as a guardian ad litem in protection order cases in Colorado state county courts, representing the best interest of children. For one summer of law school and after taking the Colorado bar, Ms. Picans interned and volunteered at Colorado Legal Services in the Family and Children Unit, representing victims of domestic abuse in divorce, custody, and protection order hearings. While attending law school, Ms. Picans served as a mediator for a local nonprofit group where she mediated cases in Chicago courts, and participated in a clinic class that primarily worked on death penalty cases. During her last year of law school, Ms. Picans served as the Executive Articles Editor on the Executive Board for the Northwestern Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property, managing all of the editing for the journal’s standard editions.
