Brandon D. Ward advises local governments and private clients on land use entitlement, economic development, environmental, political law and administrative hearing/licensing matters.
As an assistant city attorney to several Southern California cities, Mr. Ward counseled elected officials and city staff on general municipal, planning, zoning, public construction and environmental matters. He advised local governments on redevelopment, mixed-use, transit-oriented and historical preservation projects. Mr. Ward drafted economic development ordinances and advised California cities on the post-redevelopment transition and disposition of property.
As a city prosecutor, Mr. Ward successfully prosecuted misdemeanor municipal code violations, obtained property abatement orders and secured workplace violence restraining orders. As a political law attorney, Mr. Ward served as election counsel to several Southern California cities during general and special elections. He also drafted and enforced local campaign finance ordinances and regulations.
In addition to advising local governments, Mr. Ward represents commercial and residential property owners in planning, zoning and administrative hearing/licensing matters. He guides clients through land use entitlement processes, including master plan reviews, conditional use and variance approvals and challenges to government decisions. As a member of the firm’s Government Relations practice group, Mr. Ward develops and implements lobbying strategies and solutions for clients.
