Jennifer W. Yuen is an experienced litigator who represents healthcare providers, product manufacturers, construction firms, and property owners and developers in connection with complex federal and state court actions involving significant damages exposure. Jennifer’s practice focuses on three main areas – healthcare, products liability and labor law – drawing from extensive litigation experience including the handling of cases from inception to trial, mediation, settlement or other resolution.
Medical Liability and Malpractice
Jennifer defends physicians, dentists, mental health professionals, pharmacists, hospitals, outpatient facilities, pharmacies, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers against claims of medical, dental and psychiatric malpractice as well as other professional negligence. She has also counseled healthcare clients regarding HIPAA compliance, licensing matters and disciplinary proceedings.
Before embarking on her legal career, she worked at two prominent New York City hospitals, serving as a community outreach assistant, patient liaison and interpreter for Chinese and Spanish speaking patients and their families. She has experienced and genuinely appreciates the challenges and rewards that accompany the delivery of medical and healthcare services.
Products Liability
Jennifer defends healthcare facilities and food service and facilities management providers in products liability actions involving allegations of food contamination and foodborne illness. She has also represented major drug and medical device manufacturers in multi-plaintiff, mass tort and federal multidistrict litigation. She has also counseled clients regarding public health law issues, FDA compliance, product recalls, product labeling and federal and state reporting requirements.
Labor Law and Construction
Jennifer also concentrates on the defense of construction firms, property owners and developers in matters arising under the New York Labor Law and involving catastrophic injuries. She has also represented these clients in litigation arising from lead paint contamination, explosions and fire damage.
Jennifer is a licensed New York State Real Estate Broker and certified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA-10).
She has also served as a Law Clerk to The Honorable Alexander W. Hunter, Jr., Appellate Term Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Twelfth Judicial District, First Department.
Jennifer strives to deliver added value to clients by presenting educational and risk management programs. She has lectured on e-discovery best practices and also, the impact of the Affordable Care Act on the defense of personal injury actions.
