Logo Request & Guidelines

As a modern business, our firm's logo is its most recognizable, important and valuable marketing and branding tool. As a result, there are guidelines and rules associated with its use that are in place to protect both the integrity of the firm's brand identity and its public reputation. In a world where one misplaced logo can associate the firm with undesirable or inappropriate events or organiaztions, resulting in a public relations nightmare; loss of prestige and respect; and unfavorable financial consequences, ensuring the proper use our logo is of the utmost importance to the firm's mamagement. The guidelines listed below will help you to make the best use of the firm's logo to maximize the effectiveness of your own marketing efforts as well as the overall success of the firm.

Rules for Using the Lewis Brisbois Logo

  1. ASK BEFORE YOU PLACE A LOGO
    Always ask permission from the Marketing Department before you place the firm's logo on ANYTHING that is being distributed outside the firm. You should also check with Marketing before you put the firm's logo on anythnig that is being internally distributed to ensure that the logo appears in the correct size, orientation, and that the content is something that the firm is willing to have itself represented as being responsible for.
     
  2. ONLY GET THE LOGO FROM MARKETING
    The only approved versions of the firm's logo are overseen by and in the possession of the Marketing Department. There is no other place from which you should acquire the firm's logo, including copying it from the firm's stationary, newsletters, publications or any other materials or collateral. If you are using the firm's logo without supervision, you are exposing the firm to liability and yourself to potential disciplinary action.
     
  3. DON'T DO IT YOURSELF! WE CAN HELP
    The Marketing Department has put many years of effort, research and resources into creating a strong visual brand identity for Lewis Brisbois. As such, there is a specific way that the logo should be displayed and formatted in documents. The Marketing Department has the skills, knowledge and most importantly, the design tools to ensure that material bearing the firm's logo are of the highest quality and represent the firm in the best possible light. No one in the firm besides members of the Marketing Department should be undertaking the visual design of any promotional materials, including responses to requests for proposals, practice area descriptions, professional bios, brochures, etc. 
     
  4. DO YOU KNOW WHICH LOGO YOUR NEED? ARE YOU SURE?
    Most often, the logo is requested for use in conjuction with events that the firm is sponsoring for use in promotional materials for the event. If this is the case and the logo is sent to you to be passed on to representatives from an event the firm is sponsoring, please ensure that the logo you are sent is used ONLY for the purposes for which it was sent to you. Please do not save the logo file on your computer. The logo is occasionally updated and there are different versions that are used for different purposes. That is why it is important to request a new version of the logo for every time you need to use it. You may have kept a previous version and think that it will work for your needs, however, it might be the wrong size, format or color for the use you intend. The Marketing Department is always here to guide you and ensure that you have the correct version of the logo for your needs.
